TMJ Therapy

At Kent Street Dental Centre in Centretown, we offer TMJ therapy to help relieve pain in your jaw joint.

What is TMJ?

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) refers to pain in the jaw joint that can be caused by trauma to the jaw area, wear and tear over time, teeth grinding or clenching and more. The pain tends to be concentrated in the jaw joint and can make your bite feel unusual or out of place.

TMJ Treatment

Our friendly team can review your symptoms, habits and lifestyle choices and help you understand how they're resulting in TMJ. In cases where lifestyle is not a major factor, we can recommend appliances such as custom bite-guards (night guards), which can improve the symptoms. We may also refer you to a specialist if we feel it is necessary.

Trigger Point Injections

At Kent Street Dental Centre, we may also suggest trigger point injections. This treatment option may relieve symptoms from myofascial pain syndrome (pain in myofasciial trigger points) and can reduce TMJ pain.
